The effect that Hurricane Irene has had on the east coast has been incredible. In North Carolina alone, it has destroyed over 1100 homes, with at least $70 million in damage. Power lines have been knocked down, houses have been destroyed, communities have been completely wiped out. Floods and major evacuations of full cities. Economies will take years to reconstruct. There are not a lot of shelters. Many now are left homeless hoping for a miracle from God. Like in this picture people do not know what to do. Here a couple who has just lost their house due to the hurricane sits at the front steps of where their dream house used to be. Pretending it is still there for just one more minute they sit in shock.
