Controversial Rules- Hats
The "No Hats" rule has been in place my entire time at SUHSD. There are obvious reasons to why hats are not allowed at school, like them being classroom distractions, but there is really only one reason, one BIG reason, they are not allowed: The SUHSD is afraid of kids using hats as a form of gang identity. It happened like so many other rules in our world: one group of people used hats as gang symbols, now nobody can wear hats at all. One thing I cannot get over, is the fact that it is the most poorly enforced rule in school. Just look around during lunch, you can see dozens of kids wearing non-Olympian hats, and dozens more wearing their snapbacks on their belt-loops (which makes no sense to me). No hats is one of the most ridiculous and unenforceable rules that the district has in place.
